Kiyomizudera temple is located in a scenic place which overlooks the Amidagamine
and Inari mountains in the south, Kyoto city in the west, and Atago and
Arashiyama mountains in the far distance. The spectacular view seen from
well-known "Kiyomizu no Butai" is decorated with cherry blossoms
in spring and colored leaves in autumn. The Kin-unkei ravine which runs
from Otowano-taki Waterfall in Okunoin, to Nishi Otani has so many maple
trees that when autumn comes, the whole ravine is gorgeously ablaze with
scarlet and yellow tinged foliage. The autumn leaves bathed in light are
as beautiful as those at sunset. Lit up foliage at Kodaiji temple nearby
is also worth seeing.
